I want to put in a second graphics card into my computer, will this work?
im getting the HP – Pavilion Elite Desktop with AMD Phenom™ II Quad-Core Processor and i want to put in a second graphics card so i can run my games at higher settings. first of all will that happen, and second, will the new graphics card fit.

First of all… Best Buy has good prices on some things, but NEVER buy a graphics card there… They are *ridiculously* overpriced compared to online sellers like NewEgg, Amazon and Tiger Direct.
Second, adding an identical graphics card to improve performance only works for specific motherboards which support SLI (for Nvidia cards) or Crossfire (for ATI cards).
In this case you’d just replace your existing card with a better one, because the computer only has one PCI-E x16 slot (occupied by the Radeon HD 5450). The two PCI-E x1 slots aren’t for graphics cards.
That Radeon HD 5450 that Best Buy wants $80 for… it’s not even a gaming card! It’s just a low-cost card for doing regular work, web browsing and watching HD video. It’s a nice upgrade from integrated graphics but too slow for gaming. See how it performs compared to entry-level gaming cards:

The Radeon 5570 and GeForce GT240 are your best choices- anything faster would require your computer’s power supply to be upgraded.
